When Russian Universal Services began offering translation services to their clients, they were mostly handling Russian documents. In order to save on costs, they had the staff working on the translations. However, they soon found out that the cost savings were not worth it. As the work began coming in with more frequency, Russian Universal Services noticed that the staff person responsible was becoming overwhelmed and was spending far too long on each document.
However, the management understood that with official documents, the translations have to be near perfect and appreciated that the staff person was taking such care. But this was not going to work in the long run because they were seeing a steady increase in the need for translation services. At this point in time, Daniel Lerman reached out to the American Translators Association about how they could work together. Russian Universal Services would need to increase their cost for translations only slightly to cover the cost of outsourcing. The time that was saved from the internal staff member also offset those costs.
The other enormous benefit to working with the American Translators Association was that the company now had access to translations in literally every language imaginable. Russian is still the predominant language for documents to be translated into or from, but they have started seeing many others. Russian Universal Services was now able to advertise this fantastic service as part of their portfolio.
The translators that are assigned to Russian Universal Services clients are on-call. They are people who can pretty much drop what they are doing to provide the translation as soon as possible. This is perfect because it is in line with the company’s fast turnaround services in general. They are all certified and licensed professionals as well. Russian Universal Services can speak with confidence about the translation service even though it is handled outside of their company.
